The Cups and Shields for Competition winners.

In the 80s and early 90s there were many photographic shops in Maidstone. The oldest was Sloman & Petit, they had two places, one in the High Street where they specialised in portraiture and one in Pudding Lane. They were later bought out by Ronald White

City Cameras had a shop in Chequers (or Stoneborough ) as it was then and Gifford Boyd in Earl Street also had a place in Hastings.

Level Gold was based on the Broadway and Camera Gear on the corner of Mill Street.

Level Gold and Camera Gear kindly supported our club during these times and so we have trophies named after them. Now it is just Ronald White and of course Jessops, who have shops in Maidstone.

Other shields or cups have been named after past members. The Werner Lehmann and Tony and Hazel Palmer awards together with the Annual Slide Shield named after a past popular chairman, Roy Timothy and the Trevor Burden cup, named after a very keen photographer.

The Safeway cup, the biggest and heaviest was awarded to the best small print and the Ladies V gents cup was donated by Bert Fulcher, a past member.

The oldest and most prestigious silver cup was donated to the Reeds Photographic Club as it was then, by Herbert Watson, a former director of the Paper Mills at Aylesford.
